Business Performance
- One of my achievement was successful Farm-out of 60% Working Interest of Tullow to state owned company OGDCL in the Sara West D&PL on very good commercial terms. This achievement was acknowledged and appreciated very much by the top management.
- Successfully farmed out entire Working Interest of Tullow and Operatorship of Sara & Suri D&PLs to Spud Energy Pty Limited despite big challenges and this achievement was commended and enabled to earn appreciation from the management and other stake holders.
- Played a key role in the negotiation sale and transfer of Chachar Gas Field to Pakistan Petroleum Limited and earned lot of appreciation and recognition from the management and board members.
- Successfully negotiated a company favourable Farm out Agreement and Deed of Assignment for the transferred the Operatorship of Block 28 from Tullow to Oil & Gas Development Company Limited.
- Successfully Farm-out of 20% Working Interest alongwith Operatorship of Tullow to Mari Petroleum Company Limited in the Bannu West Block on extremely lucrative commercial terms. This achievement was fully recognised and appreciated by the top management.
- One of the greatest achievement of my carrier, is to farm down the entire working interests of Block 28, Bannu West, Kalchas and Kohat Blocks to Mari Petroleum Company Ltd on extremely lucrative financial terms and closed the transaction in a record time despite certain regulatory and legal challenges.
- Independently negotiated three financing agreements aggregating a total of US$ 20 million, required for Sara Suri and Chachar fields development activities. These agreements were executed at the extremely economical rates. The negotiations involved preparation of economic modelling, input to the terms of the agreements and assistance for the technical/economic/legal due-diligence carried out by the lender United Bank Limited.
- Employed effective management and tax planning in Sara & Suri and Chachar Development projects which resulted in savings of US $ 1 million on account of Custom clearance and government duties.
- Successfully handled 10 audits carried out by our Joint Venture Partners and different Government departments and effectively negotiated the resulting monitory findings in the company’s favour. This exercise gave me valuable experience of commercial and technical facets of JV operations and also led streamlining and improving our internal accounting procedures.
- As a responsible manager, I have been fully involved in preparation of development plans, declaration of commerciality documents, all field development and pipelines related licence and obtaining regulatory approvals.
- Achieved significant savings while negotiating different third party contracts on behalf of the company. Directly involved in outside court settlement of three contractual disputes and revealed very good results for the company.
- Identified & evaluated business opportunities for consideration of the management.
- Developed the Board Sanction Papers with respect to Chachar and Sara & Suri Development projects for the Board of Directors.
- Supervised all accounting, audit and tax affairs of the Joint Ventures and Pakistan Branch (having operations of more than US$ 180 million) i.e. monthly and annual JV billings and accounts, reporting thereon to management, Joint Venture Partners and the Government departments in strict compliance to policies, PCAs and JOAs.

- The culture and system requires very careful management of all stakeholders. Balancing their demands has been the most challenging test of my ability to manage/balance relationships in my career to date.
- Established excellent and close working relationships with the concerned Pakistan Government offices and senior officials, Regulators (Petroleum Minister, Secretary, Director General Petroleum Concessions, Director General Gas, Chairman Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority, Provincial Secretaries), MD’s of the JV Partners and other Directors and senior officials, major Contractors/Suppliers and leading Banks.
- Consistently contributed to the growing image of Tullow in the Pakistan oil Industry, which was recognised by being elected to the Office of Vice President PEPPCA.
